Friends and fans get ready, for the band are about to release their first new material in two and a half years.

The brand new single, entitled “Twenty Dollar Counter Meal”, channels Gillian Welch, Bruce Springsteen and Paul Kelly.  It’s a tale based on falling into a suburban grind, and taking comfort in one of the last good old Australian vice: a calorie-filled, cheese-topped $20 counter meal, with gravy and a beer.

“I wanted to write the kind of song will make Australians living overseas really homesick, sad and hungry,” Luke jokes. ” And I also wanted it to be a piece of music that Australians can play to the world and say, ‘this is what a weeknight in Melbourne feels like.’ ”

To celebrate the release of the single, Luke Legs + the Midnight Specials are hosting an afternoon matinee show at the iconic Workers Club SUNDAY 10th NOVEMBER. The show is hosted by Timber and Steel.

Support from Pheobe Schina, and ex-Justin Bieber-backup-singer-turned-country-songstress Charlie Thorpe. Door open 1.30pm.

Luke Legs and the Midnight Specials win Artist of the Year, to perform at Port Fairy Folk Festival, St Kilda Festival, and a whole lot more!

So firstly, a massive pat on the back to Luke Legs, who took out Artist of the Year in the Unpaved Reader Awards!

Secondly, we have had a busy January, recording and mixing our brand spanking new single Gloria (To be released on Vinyl Early March 2013). It was recorded with Si Cotter (Paul Kelly, Courtney Barnett) at HeadGap studio’s in Thornbury, and mastered by legendary Adam Dempsey. We will be releasing two songs from the recording, Gloria, a song about reaching for the stars, and a song named Brother.

Hi friends,

JUST ANNOUNCED: Geelong’s Nash Hotel is closing down. For EVER!

We are playing a ONE OFF show on Friday November 2nd at the place that it all begun for us. We have very fond memories of these early gigs. We are shattered that the bar is closing down, and not due to lack of money or patrons, but a dodgy building that must be demolished. And with it goes a little piece of our soul. We will be performing two sets, one Luke Legs solo from 7-8pm then with the band from 8-9pm. Just like old times…. Get down early to be guaranteed entry.Next up, the following week, Friday November 9th, we’ll be supporting the amazing Jordie Land at the Barwon Bowling Club. Jordie’s back from the U.S. to promote his new single ‘fool for love’. And then the big one – we’re delighted to announce that we’re playing at the Queenscliff Music Festival, alongside such legends of Australian music like You Am I, Missy Higgins,The Cat Empire and many, many more.
